Choirs – An Open Invitation for Adults and Children!
There is ALWAYS an open invitation for new choir members! Our choirs lead the music during the worship services.
Chancel Choir is a traditional choir, and this choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 P.M. from September to June. They sing at the 8:30 A.M. service on Sunday morning. We welcome ANY voice to join us!
Heaven Sent Choir is a more contemporary choir, and this choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 P.M. from September to June. They sing at the 10:00 A.M. service on Sunday morning. This choir does many pieces in unison, as well as some in parts, so we welcome ANY voice to join us! Both choirs rehearse for about one hour, sometimes a few minutes longer and sometimes a few minutes less.
Handbell Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 P.M. If you are interested, please come to a rehearsal and try it out. If you have never rung bells before, it is lots of fun! You may discover a new hobby.
Please check the church calendar for these rehearsals.
Calling all instrumentalists! We are in need of the following instruments for some anthems we hope to sing: violin, flute, and brass instruments. If you are interested in playing occasional percussion, that would be great, too. If you’re thinking about singing or playing an instrument, you can contact David Jakobsen by email at DMJ2@outlook.com, or leave a note in his box in the workroom if you need more information. Or you may speak with any Choir member! You can also simply join us on Tuesday or Wednesday and give it a trial run! Thanks!!
Asbury Choir Rehearsal
Sundays 9:45 to 10:00 am
For children Pre-K to Grade 2
Sing+ Choir Rehearsal
Sundays 11:15-11:45 am
For children in Grades 3-6
Sing+ Choir rehearses weekly on Sundays after church from 11:15-11:45 am in the choir room. We perform two musicals a year, one during the Christmas season and a second one during the spring. We try to sing in worship at the 10:00 service a few times a year in addition to the musicals. A typical rehearsal involves listening to music and singing.
None of our music is especially difficult, so everyone can learn the pieces and sing along. The + in the choir’s name indicates that we are not only singers! Watch out for fellowship activities and outings for all of the children in Grades 3-6, such as movies, bowling and even a camp-in!
