What is MYF?
Methodist Youth Fellowship invites youth in Grades 7-12 to spend time together with programs designed to be fun, while exploring serious life and faith issues, with messages that focus on being a Christian. The In House small group time, discussions, music, devotions, and service projects, help us all grow in our faith. The snacks are a bonus! Games Night – all about GAMES! Reel to Real – Movies with a message! Destination Devotions are quick mystery trips! The youth do not know the location of the outing but once we arrive at the destination we experience the scripture lesson instead of just hearing it! Out and About – Fellowship and recreation events such as bowling, rock climbing, ice skating, you name it! Worship Workshops – Jam nights, multimedia development, art for worship, dance; exploring elements that inspire an emerging worship style. The MYF also enjoys overnight retreats and fellowship trips of all shapes and sizes (concerts, camping, white water rafting, Six Flags, etc.)
In the past our MYF leaders have been mentors for Senior Projects required for graduation by the Public High Schools. If you would like to explore this, please let us know! The 30 Hour Famine and a benefit for Hasbro Children Hospital were past successful Sr. Projects by our youth.
Methodist Youth Fellowship Meetings are held mostly on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm with the occasional day or time change depending on the adventure and the location!
The MYF also has a passion for mission and service, supporting Gateway Services, World Vision, The Souperbowl of Caring and Destiny Africa to name a few organizations. This year we will be asking the youth to become mission leaders. We are inviting our veteran youth to plan and develop the major events and missions of the MYF in 2015-2016.
